Job Purpose

To ensure that process critical equipment will be available for its intended application throughout the life of an operation, which includes activities to ensure that equipment is designed, fabricated, procured, installed, operated, and maintained appropriately for its intended application. Such activities to be performed including other process safety and risk

management elements.

Responsible for the reliability of all Mechanical, Electrical & Instrument - Static and Rotary equipment in all GFL plants. Prepare and implement a reliability improvement plan for each plant based on past failures. Analyze the failures of each plant by collecting data and study the system thoroughly and plan for corrective & preventive measures to avoid the recurrence of the failure and resolve chronic issues. Ensure that all activities are planned and executed under SHE guidelines.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities of the Job role ? Develop and implement Preventive and Predictive maintenance plans for site in line with maintenance policy. ? Contribute to achieving and maintaining Reliability goals and objectives through the use of sound predictive and preventative maintenance practices. ? Constant focus on continuous improvement; best practice, sharing learnings and communications to promote the cultural shift towards total plant reliability. ? Work with maintenance engineers to develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs on existing equipment. ? Collect the failure data in each plant to study and find out the real issues and bad actors. ? Lead a Cross Functional Equipment Improvement Team to address chronic issues. The responsibilities include: Investigate equipment failures using Root Cause Failure Analysis principles and work order history to identify failure modes, implement corrective actions required to prevent reoccurrence, Plan, design, co-ordinate, schedule, and supervise specific corrective maintenance projects ? Update the preventive & Predictive maintenance plans, schedule and task list in accordance with RCA action items to avoid the failures in future. ? Ensure that corrective and Preventive actions must be initiated based on the PM & PDM inspection report. ? Ensure that Re-inspection should be done to ensure that the action taken has resolved the issue. ? Ensure that Predictive Maintenance results and actions should be maintained in SAP based on the actual work implemented. ? Study & recommend suitable instruments for condition monitoring at each site or for common use if needed. ? Study and suggest at each plant, the scope for implementation of Risk based inspection (RBI), Mechanical integrity (MI) and plan for mitigation measures for improving overall reliability & life of plant as applicable. ? Generate reports pertaining to reliability and other related activities in each plant and follow up with plant team for completion of the jobs. Work with vendors concerning equipment issues, technology issues and failures. ? Use reliability concepts / tools to perform reliability assessment of plant assets and develop action plans to increase reliability and reduce maintenance costs. ? Apply / sustain / improve reliability standard operating procedures. Optimize stated best practices to achieve lowest long-term cost of ownership. ? Review new and repaired equipment design and develop reliability requirements. ? Apply lean fundamentals to equipment reliability and conduct mechanical reliability audits and reviews. ? Lead plant reliability improvement initiatives which focus on eliminating significant and recurring reliability issues. ? Assume the Maintenance engineer backup role in his/her absence. ? Support Process Based Leadership, Management of Change, and other business processes. ? Perform other duties as assigned which may not be specifically listed in the position description, but which are within the general occupational series and responsibility level typically associated with the employee’s skills classification of work. ? Providing regular status reports to the top management. Zero incident/accident in the plant with sustainability and safe operation.
Service Delivery ? Support in working through SAP-PM at each plant for improving equipment reliability. ? Support for Energy, Quality management and statutory compliances for improving reliability. ? As part of statutory requirement testing & Inspection of process and utility equipment should be planned and monitored. ? Support in energy conservation activities at sites. ? Support for Spares management through SAP for reliability improvement. 1. Improvement in reliability of the plant. 2. Follow PM & PdM as planned through SAP 3. Management of HR • Continuous assessment of job knowledge and work performance of plant personnel and identifying need for training , skill upgradation, and imparting effective training. • Working with managers and engineers effectively to execute the policies and goals of the organization. • Tracking competencies of subordinates and providing leadership and development as required to achieve the objectives. • Ensuring the effectual adopting of new programs and policies and providing training in order to meet improved requirements. • To motivate and inculcate sense of belonging and ownership among the plant personnel, through mentoring and personal attention. • Effective utilization of manpower and productivity improvement through job rotation, multi-skilling, and rationalization. “Zero” error in job performance by the plant personnel. Smooth and speedy implementation of new policies, new techniques and technologies, new work practices. Visible adaptability and willingness to accept change across the plant group.
Quality Performance • Monitor performance of equipment’s through NDT techniques which directly affect product quality and take corrective/preventive action. • Monitor and control quality systems and procedures. • Introducing new techniques in the field of engineering, repair, condition monitoring etc. in order to improve reliability of maintenance, productivity of technicians &/or reduce maintenance expenditure. • Set and adhere to Engineering standards all the time. • Train and retrain Technicians for Quality performance. • Set Quality control procedure for all maintenance activities, clearly defining responsibility and authority. “Zero” quality deviation in service provided
Continual Improvement and Cost Reduction • Timely Identification of improvement requirements in Engineering specifications, Layout, piping drawings, etc. & ensuring corrections before execution with proper coordination with Project leader/ EP(Projects) • To ensure no rework during execution with proper planning and controls of defect free maintenance execution, proper material usage and execution with proper/latest revision drawings. • Utilizing all available resources to generate ideas, solutions and management programs for Cost reduction and productivity improvement, implementing them successfully within approved budget and timeframes. • Monitoring & controlling material wastages/pilferage during project and maintenance execution ensuring optimum materials management. Improvement in equipment availability and productivity. Reduced repair and maintenance activity To control surplus material generation to avoid an increase in store inventory.

    B.Tech/ B.E – Mechanical Engineer

Functional Skills
  • Functional Skills Required -

    SAP PM and MM module hands on experience

  • Technical Skills required -

    Knowledge of ISO system in a large organization

  • Behavioural/Leadership Skills required -

    Knowledge of 5S house keeping method

  • Total Number of experience required -

    16 years of hands-on experience in handling Asset Integrity functions at unit of large and complex chemical plants.
